This recipe was printed on the back of Royal Service, a Christian Women's magazine, back in the late 80's or early 90's. I still have this back cover, and it is what I use when baking this cake!
I've made it many times over the years, and it is always a hit!
I am thinking it was the first pound cake I ever tried to make!

Mama’s Old-Fashioned Coconut Pound Cake
2½ sticks butter
3 cups sugar
6 eggs
3 cups plain flour
8 ounces sour cream
¼ teaspoon soda
¼ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 package frozen coconut
Defrost coconut.
Eggs and butter should be at room temperature.
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Coat tube pan with cooking spray.
Whisk together flour, salt, and soda; set aside.
Cream butter and sugar well.
Add eggs, one at a time, and mix well.
Add flour mixture, sour cream and vanilla;blend.
Stir in coconut.
Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes or until done.
